Dilemma

From what i can make of his stand is that there are two reasons for me being unable to change from a 3-term to a 2-term course.

1: Visa - UKBA does not approve of the change two 2-term, that being duration of visa is unable to be shortened for tier4 general students.

However, a check on UKBA website says that i may be able to  change to a 2-term course:

"If you want to do a different course of study with your education provider
You do not need to get our permission if you want to do a different course of study with your Tier 4 sponsor and the new course will finish before your current permission to stay expires. Your Tier 4 sponsor will tell us that you have changed course.
If your new course will end before your permission to stay expires, you must tell us by sending an email message to migrantreporting@ukba.gsi.gov.uk."

The only thing is that i am pursuing the same course except that it is a 2-term course instead of a 3-term one.

2: Kaplan policies - That, i cannot argue with that. They are a commercial giant. end of story.

But it really boils down to whether i would like to go back to singapore this year. Cos if i take a 2 term course, which ends in may,  i have to go back no matter what cos my new term in uni only starts in sep. UKBA has a policy that we can apply for a visa only 3 months before the start of a new term.

I would prefer to stay in Glasgow.
The reason i would like to change to a 2 term course is because i hoped that i would be able to get a refund on my tuition fees and accomodation fees since they are shortened. and i would use the refund to get a cheaper accomodation somewhere else, cos my current one is twice the market price! If i pay a bit more i can get a budget hotel and i dont have to make my bed. haha. AND also buy a new lens hehe. I guess these plans have to be scrapped.

So i would like your opinions on whether these reasons are justified.

My new 3 term course is that for the 1st term, i study british culture and personal development and intercultural studies. the remaining 2 would be what i would be doing for the 2 term course. so in effect the course intensity is the same as the 2 term except i get a buffer period for the 1st term. However i think that this "new course" is a hastily assembled one.

The course is called "enhanced university preparation". haha.

And then some pictures of me!

I played with all the styles of photoshopping.

Glasgow university

Here is Glasgow University from a different point of view:

Adventure with Friends

It turned in to an adventure when it was suggested we try to get onto it. haha it wasnt without hard work and freezing feet.

 We Were Freezing Up.

The Bench

The quaint bench in the middle of the river it is amazing just to think of how it manages to get there.

Adventure by The Globe

My accomodation has a river behind it. It is an active river known as River Kelvin. Somehow, its water is Brownish. We came by "The Bench" on River Kelvin and decided to reach the bench to get to see the fantastic view of the river. This "adventure with friends" was a really fun and interesting trip which made me appreciate more about the cultures of people and also to be able to see "Glasgow University".   Less explaining and more pictures! They will be shown through the different adventure arcs as indicated by the "".  Behold. And this is the starting point.

ABC Pork

Today's stew turned out to be pretty god heh. yea!

The phone call back.

It was 2.30pm here and 9.30pm there. We have a time difference of 7hours. But a call can still be made through. It was comforting to hear my family's voice. But things happen constantly all around us whether we know it or not.

Ive heard that my mom and sis are over at malacca because my uncle has been hospitalised. A fracture.

So is a sound produced when no one is there to hear it? yes i would say, we just did not notice.

So recover soon uncle kim!

A lot of thinking has been going through my mind these few days. About what i am going to be, the are i live in, the view outside my window and so on. However, these thoughts only took a spin around my head once, and they head into oblivion, never coming back to memory. And i am not meticulous enough to jot all my thoughts down.. should I? Reading about osho and the mustard seed. finished the montaigne book. the montaigne is not a bad book, it really gives you options to choose what you wanna do and so this book is worth re-reading. Back to this morning - Made breakfast, hehe proud of it just a sandwich though.

Heading down to the college today to do my registration. need to register with the police too. Many things to learn, but i do believe i am coping quite well.

Scot rail

Spent today travelling on the rail. bought a full day ticket meaning i can travel anywhere within the day. 6 pounds unlimited rides. compared to 2 pounds a ride. odd.

One day, I'll gather up my courage and take pictures of people!!

Glasgow Sep 8

There are many many many International students coming from China, Hong Kong and basically asia chinese.

So i took a walk and looked for something to eat.

The thing is if i don't underexpose the picture, the clouds could not be seen. Uncle kim, why ah?

My guitar sounds so good!!!

Moving in.

Kaplan is ripping us off. The building is not designed for cooking. Currently i do not see a trash bin anywhere. wonder where is the waste disposal. it is wood laminate flooring. was hoping for carpet though. when i came in the floor was still dusty. the day before i came to check out my accomodation and it turned out that they were still undergoing some sort of construction at the student office. joke.

Good things: Free wifi, pretty fast. En-suite toilet, no more sharing wahahha. has a wardrobe. has enough cupboards to put stuff not enough cleaning facilities. The mop was crap.

After this rant, oh well we gotta make do. going to buy things like towels and toiletries. its not a hotel anymore.

While i was having breakfast at my hotel today, i happened to look at my water bottle. There was a picture of a smiling Globe and the caption: Save the earth. I wondered whether my course is all about that.

Why save the earth? I do think that it is to ensure the continuity of Man in general. So i hope i do not get my priorities wrong by advocating for animals and stuff before putting sustainability first.

OK! need to hype myself for shopping, which i do not really endorse.

Glasgow is a beautiful place

However,
something is wrong with my settings for the camera. all my shots are overexposed. Couldnt save alot of them. Oh well i need to get used to this city more to understand it. Yesterday, spent 7+ pounds on a pasta, a parma ham sandwich and a scone! I think its really worth. they have half price pasta that day haha. and it tastes good too.

To Glasgow

There i was at Singapore Changi Airport when i parted ways with my family and friends.

Off to Glasgow i set off to.

I was very apprehensive at the boarding gate when i looked at the stuff i am carrying. Definitely more than 7kg no matter how you look at it. Now on hindsight, my nervousness was for naught. They didnt bother.

I stayed in Dubai for 2 hours for my connecting flight. The weather there was no different than in singapore. Their newly constructed Terminal 3 has i think a total of 3 toilets for more than few thousand passengers waiting for their connecting flights. When i got a cubicle, i stayed in there and made it my home as i took a dump. I got 2 hours to kill anyway.

Got out to waiting area , all seats are taken, some by bags. I guess bags have priorities in that airport.
In Summary - I did not like Dubai Airport.

Reached Glasgow - was really hyped about the place. The weather was wonderful today! But my luggage was kind of too much for 1 pax. Ha but glasgow taxis were big yea.

Ate lunch and now chilling in the hotel room planning for the next day. gonna go to city center to check out my school i guess.

Element of life

These pictures remind me of "element of life".

Dog and Bone

The relationship between a dog and a bone. If i was the bone, i would be pissing in my pants right now.
