Shopping!

Bought a Tamron 18 - 200 AF lens. And a 30L Dry Cabinet. The lens cost 325 and the dry box costs 118. Must say overall it was a good deal.

Tried out the tamron lens just now and found out the focusing isn't very good for macro shots. But i love the zoom and the color! It beats the 18 - 55 canon one. Then i tried to get rid of the mold in the canon lens and so proceeded to unscrew the whole thing. Found out that the mold or fungus was growing inside the lens which is impossible for me to get rid of. So i screwed it back and amazingly it still works. haha.

does every post need a title?

My family has grown. it has included 1 and perhaps 1 more in the near future into this picture.

How we have all grown up, i thought. balancing our ideals and reality, work and fun, societal pressures and personal goals, to push on into the future.

Lets hope our future are as we like it to be, rather then bright and great, it can be wild, adventurous, arduous or plain crazy. But it should never be bleak, not when we are this young.

University of Michigan - Ann Arbor

University of Michigan. Essay(Required for all applicants. Approximately 250 words.)Everyone belongs to many different communities and/or groups defined by (among other things) shared geography, religion, ethnicity, income, cuisine, interest, race, ideology, or intellectual heritage. Choose one of the communities to which you belong, and describe that community and your place within it.

I guess I belong to a community of "floaters". They are aimless, unmotivated and pretty much termed as lazy by the rest of the communities. As part of this community, of course interaction with each other is kept to a minimum; usually we only talk if necessary. Also since there are no specific goals we set for ourselves, we tend to wander around a lot in search of things that might interest us, more often than not failing to do so and wallow in self pity instead. I am just a member of this community and do not hold an important position in it. I do not feel that I belong as I grow older and realize that the world has too much things to offer to be lazing around or be bystander to changes. We human beings are programmed to adapt to many environments, I want to be part of the change instead of being the part to adapt. Hence I now belong to the community transitioning from floaters to Doers, where I’m planning activities I like instead of joining them, where I actively look for answers instead of them still buried deep in my mind, where I feel satisfied everyday when I complete a mini project or adventure I set out to do. Sometimes I do regress and go back to “floating” mode, but I guess this belongs to a larger community called “maturing”. I hope UMICH could help me get into an executive position of this community.

What do you think?

火车跑道的下雨天

就算 天空茫然,风雨交加, “人” 的气息却能够把暗淡的变得美丽。

wakeboarding

at Bedok Reservoir
cute pink wakeboards?

Bedok Reservoir

wow. Bedok reservoir is a really big reserve. i took one hour to leisurely cycle 1 round. Can't believe that there are so many people who are jogging here. I wouldn't. too long.
Incidentally, the day i went there was some sort of wakeboarding competition. pretty interesting but i guess the sport still isn't very popular here yet.

This reservoir is really tranquil, where you can lay down on a grass patch with your hands tucked behind your head and just gaze at the sky. And maybe ask yourself why is the sky blue? Read a book recently titled "sky in a bottle" and realized there were so many observations about the sky i have never realized in my course of 20 years. (ever wondered why the sky seems more blue at the zenith but lighter at the horizon?)

A reservoir adventure ( Lower Pierce)

Mainly i got to Lower pierce after upper pierce. So this is like part 2 of the day.

Nothing interesting for me here, except my family used to take some walks in here as there is a forest trail.

saw quite a few families taking a walk. But the day was really hot, wonder how they could stand the heat.

A friendly inhabitant.

A reservoir adventure (upper pierce)

For these 2 months, i have decided to do a little adventure trail around singapore's reservoirs.

I find these places beautiful, serene, alluring and also exhilirating! You will all find out why in the posts. So without further ado - my personal favourite: UPPER PIERCE!

So before you actually reach the reservoir, you have to cycle along a winding path. You will find the path unusually cooling even at 12pm with the sun shining directly above you! All thanks to the lush vegetation on both sides.

Roughly 5-10 mins later: Target reached

Entrance of the Park: The start of a series of 3 crazy slopes.

Just look at the degree of incline of these slopes. So make sure to hold on to your handlebars real tightly. No need to pedal, just let the slope bring you whooshing down as you shout AHHHHHHHHH!!

Adrenaline rush achieved!

yay.

Some fun things to do here is skipping stones. With so many stones lying around, its a great opportunity to perfect that throw. I was taught to throw the stones as parallel to the water surface as possible, so you have to bend to your left or right and keep your hands parallel to the water surface as you throw the stone.

Do you know? Using fishing lures is better than using live bait since live bait will dirty the water when they decompose in the water. However, pollutants are produced in the making of fishing lures. But i think that fishing lures will be more sustainable.

One of the incredible things i saw that day.

Bishan Park

Yup i would love to sit on one of these. And then take in some fresh air or something.

KTM

Known as the tanjong pagar railway station

Decisions.

Decisions made from the past can come back and bite you in the ass when you least expect it. This was what i learned today when a call came from my camp. Just know that regulars are more concerned with their own backsides and paychecks than to better the organization they work for. I wonder if this would be prevalent in any other companies or organisations. If so, i doubt it would be successful, if at all. Ironic how those who chose the call to arms can be such cowards in the face of responsibility.

Other than this unfortunate event, i should say that this month has been a good one.

Has been staying on top of my driving lessons.

got my SAT results which is fairly good 2070, gonna aim higher for the next one! (which i havent been revising for)

Ran a full marathon, which resulted in a pair of limping legs. The experience is fairly torturous. (This is one of the things which i feel should be done only once in a lifetime)

Ate many a good meals ( Waku Ghin, No menu, OTTO, 40 Hands, Wild Honey) :)

So we concentrate on the good things in life

Like having some abalone

Or perhaps lobster

Uncle, Nephews and Kites.

A day out at the field.

My nephews. I'm an uncle! brothers with 2 distinct personalities. you can tell just by looking at them. But then again, only time can tell.

Upper Pierce Reservoir

One of my favourite places to cycle would be this reservoir. Because the slopes here are crazy!
really gives you an adrenaline rush. Must thank marc for introducing me to this place!

pretty flowers seen at the reservoir.

This is on my way to upper pierce, bishan park. it boasts a lotus garden, but i guess it is really hard to maintain it. just look at the condition of these lotus.

i must have more of these trips: me, my bicycle and camera.

Tanjong Rhu bus-stop

See. this is the view at the bus-stop outside my house. for at least a year, i have seen the tree at the bottom right continually grow. I would sit down at the bus-stop and look directly across and wonder when the tree would grow up to change this view.
